Finishing
Once the melted metal is solidified, it is possible to proceed with the
opening of the moulding boxes, with the removal of the sand and with the "extraction" of the casting.
Subsequently, it is necessary to remove from the raw casting all the metallic burrs
and fins, as well as castings and risers.
Grit blasting is the next phase, and it consists in hitting with metallic
grit the raw casting.
This proceeding consents to remove the residual sand that, during casting
process, have adhered to the raw casting.
Such process consents moreover to eliminate the surface oxidation film, that it forms during cooling of the casting.
